Galliprant is indicated for the treatment of acute pain associated with mild to moderate osteoarthritis in dogs. Active substance: Grapiprant 60 mg Grapiprant is a nonsteroidal, nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug of the piprant class. Grapiprant is a selective antagonist of the EP4 receptor, a key receptor for prostaglandin E2 that predominantly mediates prostaglandin E2-triggered nociception. Specific effects of prostaglandin E2 binding to the EP4 receptor include vasodilation, increased vascular permeability, angiogenesis, and production of proinflammatory mediators. The EP4 receptor is important in mediating pain and inflammation, because it is the primary mediator of prostaglandin E2-triggered sensitization of sensory neurons and prostaglandin E2-triggered inflammation. Dosage and route of administration: Oral. Administer this veterinary medicinal product on an empty stomach (e.g. in the morning) and at least one hour before the next feeding, once daily at a target dose of 2 mg per kg of body weight. The duration of treatment will depend on the observed response to treatment. As field studies were limited to 28 days, longer treatment should be carefully considered and monitored periodically by your veterinarian. Because the clinical signs of canine osteoarthritis are not constant, intermittent treatment may be beneficial in some dogs.
