Benakor causes long-lasting inhibition of plasma ACE activity in cats, thereby reducing the blood pressure and volume load on the hart and normalizing elevated glomerular capillary pressure and the systemic blood pressure. Reduction in glomerular hypertension retards the progression of kidney disease by inhibition of further damage to the kidneys. Benakor is therefore indicated for the reduction of proteinuria associated with chronic kidney disease in cats.

* Benakor causes long-lasting inhibition of plasma ACE activity in dogs, thereby reducing the blood pressure and volume load on the hart. * The product is therefore prescribed for the symptomatic treatment of congestive heart failure with or without adjunct therapy used in the treatment of heart failure in dogs.
